Feles, HP and I would like to thank everyone who turned out for our Royal Courty party. It was great to see all you fashionistas pull that fantasy gear out of inventory storage! There were fae and elves and faun, and a few human types as well but even they were decked out in their royal finest.

We were blessed with the fantastic sounds of DJ Kromus who had everybody dancing.

To see more pics from the party check out the flickr set We hope to make these themed parties a regular event, so stay tuned for more!

Second Look Studio will be hosting an Avilion themed party today, July 20th at 2PM SLT! We initially planned this party for our SLS models and friends, but thought it would be nice to open it up to all who wanted to attend. Our party today will be dj’ed by the awesome Kromus Korobase!

Our party today is in the beautiful Forest Skybox, designed by Kao Sands, which was modified to accommodate the party. You can still get the smaller version of this beautiful work at iTuTu, but hurry, today is the last day!
Here is the SLURL…see you there!

Sometimes a shoot of the spontaneous kind is the most fun. You get an idea, and you run with the moment. I had been planning a small, personal shoot using the Dalmation Dame skins from MiaSnow, but when I saw that one of the lucky chairs was set to gift this skin I began to have more grandiose ideas… I wanted to shoot the “Bitches of Second Look Studio” so I sent out a notice to the group to see who I could recruit.

L-R: Elysiana Eilde, Kaitlin Peccable, Feles Seitan, Elysium Eilde, Halfpint Pennell, Vitality Lollipop, Kay Fairey
A pretty good showing for a shoot that went into the wee hours…and we didn’t stop here. Feles said something about a poker table… check out Photographing SL later today to see our take on a famous painting.

Like many of you, I was stunned to hear how much Kay Fairey bid for Eshi Stawara’s Fishhook dress at the RFL auction. (uh, that would be 460,000L$) Then I heard her story, and it didn’t seem that unreasonable anymore. Kay, and Clarabelle Cazalet who Kay is “sharing” the dress with asked me to photograph them for the first post on their new blog (http://stylefilebyclarabellekay.blogspot.com), which has yet to hit the feed. Clara and Kay are part of the Second Look Studio model pool, and I have such respect for their generosity here that I offered to post their images, and their story to the Second Look Studio blog. Here is the dress and what they had to say about it.

CLARABELLE CAZALET’S COMMENTS
Wow! What a night. Sunday 13th July was the night that Eshi Otawara auctioned off her last ever Fishook Dress for the Relay For Life charity supporting Cancer.
Kay and I were at the auction both intent that either one of us were going to try to bid for the dress, not only because it is such an amazing dress, but also because it is a cause that is close to our hearts as there have been too many people close to us suffering from this horrible disease. Kay had already let me go for it, as she previously had a limited edition Chambre du Chocolat dress - Juliet.
The bidding was getting incredibly high – it was between myself and Zoeanastasia. I couldn’t go any further as budget would not allow so it was about to go to Zoe, then stealth like Kay stepped in and took the bidding way beyond anything we all had imagined. My respect goes well and truly over to Kay.
So Kay triumphed and got the dress, and gave an amazing donation to RFL through doing this. Eshi kindly gave this to her as transferable so that both she and I could wear it and blog it on our new blog “The Style File”. With the condition that we only send it to a third party if that third party is RFL to auction again in a few years. This making this dress even more special and unique.

KAY FAIREY’S COMMENTS
The RFL charity events have been taking place in many forms and styles all across the SL sims and I have been participating in as many as my resource allows, meaning time and money. I just lost my mother quite recently from liver cancer which started from hepatitus almost 12 years ago. It was a long and sad process as we all watched our beloved mother weaken with no hope for a cure. What was even more sad was to see my father doing everything he could in his power to give maybe one extra day to my mother’s life. And it was sad to see the two argue over whether they should continue with the fight. My mother was tired and she just wanted to drop everything and die in peace. My father didn’t want her to go through the rough treatments she was under but at the same time did not want to loose her. The whole thing was just so sad, depressive and I have never felt so helpless in my life.
And after putting up a brave and hopeless battle against the malicious desease, my mother finally gave in….and my father was left alone after so many years of loving and caring for my mother. On the day of the funeral, I did my mother’s make up. It was her last “show” so I wanted her to be as pretty as possible. When I was done, I called my father to come see her. The moment he saw her, he just stood there, speechless for a long time. When he finally spoke, he said “she is so beautiful. I will marry her again in heaven.” She could have lived longer if there was a cure for cancer…if there were no cancer on this earth. I was just crushed with sadness not only from the loss of my mother, but also from thinking what my father was going through.
July 13 to 16 was OBON in Tokyo, Japan, where I am from (some regions designate August for OBON). It is traditionally believed that the souls of the deceased return to their families. That day, July 13th was the day of that auction.

Second Look Studio hosted it’s first event today featuring the fashion of Decoy, the skins of Tuli and the hair of Dernier Cri aboard a cruise ship themed set. Thank you SO much to the designers, models and attendees who made it a success.
Because our studio focuses so much on photography, photos of the clothing, skins and hair seen in today’s event were displayed as part of the set and were included in a Look Book given to guests. We also hope this let everyone see what SL didn’t feel like rezzing on the AVs at the time of the show!
Product details after the cut.

The lucky one’s who grabbed Tuli’s gift at the show are currently walking around the grid in the skin shown in the first closeup, the rest of you will have to wait until tomorrow to purchase them at her shops. Annette’s show gift included a pair of capris destined to give you the cutest tush out there, those will be available in the next few hours, she is setting up now! Guests also received several items from Dernier Cri’s Asuka Martin, including more than a half dozen wigs in different styles, with a script that will allow you to choose the color the first time you put it on!!! You can purchase those items at her shop now.

Demoness turned fashion photographer, I, like many others, had no idea where this second life™ would take me. I am still amazed everyday with my evolution, and with my role in the creation of Second Look Studio where I am partner, lead photographer (um, ok, only photographer) and Creative Director.

My in world photography career began with a trial run photographing for Imagen Divine Agency, where I eventually became Senior Photographer and partner. There, I learned about the SL fashion and photography scenes and met more amazing people than I ever imagined I could in this virtual world of ours. My RL qualifications include experience in professional photography and digital imaging, print and web design, and teaching various visual design related topics.
If you are seeing this on the feed, you have probably come across my personal blog, Photographing SL, where I will continue to post personal shoots relating to fashion and design in SL. This Second Look Studio blog will be kept for studio projects and news, plus features on our models and clients.
Second Look Studio is a professional photography and event planning agency, with a staff who believes that it is our individual, unique personalities that make us a strong business. I am proud to have Feles Seitan and Halfpint Pennell as my partners on this endeavor…thanks ladies, for believing in me, in us.
